My wonderful Sunday: Exploring the newly built road by the river, สำรวจถนนตัดใหม่ริมแม่นํ้าโขง

This Sunday, though I was very busy, has been a very nice day. I played with all the cats and did some gardening during the afternoon. On Saturday we already planted two mango trees, one jackfruit tree and a big flowering tree.

So, I went for a long walk in the evening to explore the newly finished road by the river. This is an extension of the road in front of my house down to another village three kilometers away. The sunset in winter is usually very dramatic and colourful. There were so many people by the river, they came to see the new road and river views.

This road was built by a different group of companies and the design had been improved to cater for the need of villagers to have access to water in the river. There are special holes for villagers to insert their water hoss to the river. This design was missing in the road we are now using.

Now villagers can ride their bicycles along this beautiful road for about four kilometers till the end of this road. These villagers are lucky to be able to continue their agriculture of sweet curbs, pumpkins, beans, tomatoes, chili plants, sugarcain and lots more.

วันอาทิตย์ที่ผ่านมาเรายุ่งมาก แต่ก็นับว่าเป็นสันที่อากาศดีมากและพระอาทิตย์ตกสวนงามมาก เมื่อวานนี้เราก็พากันปลูกต้นไม้อีกสี่ต้นทดแทนต้นไม้ที่ตายไปเพราะโดนน้ำท่วม แล้วตอนเย็นเราก็ไปสำรวจ ถนนตัดใหม่ล่าสุดที่เลียบริมโขง

ถนนเส้นนี้เป็นถนนที่ตัดต่อจากถนนที่หน้าบ้าน ไปจนถึงหมู่บ้านต่อไปเป็นระยะทางอีกสี่กิโล กลุ่มบริษัทใหม่ที่มาสร้างถนนนี่ ทำงานดีกว่ากลุ่มแรกมาก โดยเขามีการสนองความต้องการใช้นํ้าของชาวบ้าน เขาเจาะรูทำท่อ ให้ชาวบ้านสามารถใส่สายยางลงไปสูบน้ำมาใช้ในการเพาะปลูกได้ ทำให้เราเห็นเขาปลูกข้าวโพด ถั่ว มะเขือเทศ พริก อ้อย ฟักทอง และผักอื่นๆอีกหลายอย่าง

ถนนเส้นนี้โค้งไปตามลำน้ำ เวลาเดินไปก็เหมือนเลื้อยเป็นงู แต่พอหันมาดูพระอาทิตย์ตก ก็จะเห็นส่วนโค้งของแม่นํ้าสวยงามมาก ชาวบ้านเห่อถนนใหม่มาก มีคนมาถีบจักรยานเป็นกลุ่มๆ และยังมีครอบครัวออกมาวิ่งกันหลายครอบครัว ถนนใหม่นี้สร้างได้สวยมากและไม่ทำให้ชาวบ้านเดือดร้อนเหมือนถนนที่ตัดมาก่อน แต่เราก็คิดว่าหากเขื่อนในจีนแตกอีก ถนนที่สร้างเหมือนเขื่อนกั้นน้ำนี้ก็ไม่สามารถขวางปริมาณ์นํ้าทีไหลหลากมาจากจีนได้ การลงทุนนี้ค่อนข้างสูงแต่ประโยชน์ที่ได้รับคงต้องรอดูกันในระยะยาว ตอนนี้ชาวบ้านมีทึ่ออกกำลังกายใหม่ ไม่ต้องไปเสียเงินเป็นสมาชิกศูนย์ออกกำลังกายแล้ว
