joyrobinson’s Whole Wheat Mayo Choco Cake Recipe

Hello Steemians!

Does eating sweets like cakes and ice cream makes you feel a bit better when your depress or stress? Do you know why? Simply because STRESSED spells backwards is DESSERTS! :D

Anyway, I made this chocolate cake yesterday after watching a mayonnaise chocolate cake video that was shared in facebook. Honestly, I find it just too much calories and a bit gross as I never tried making chocolate cake before with mayonnaise. So out of curiosity of how does it taste, I tried it to make my own version since I still had all the ingredients. The only difference is I’m using a wheat flour instead of the regular white flour.

Whole wheat flour: This flour naturally has the level of fiber unlike the regular white flour. It also contains more iron, calcium and other nutrients.

Mayonnaise: or mayo is made of whole eggs, oil, water, vinegar, salt, sugar, lemon juice which gives a moist consistency for the cake a great substitute for eggs.

It’s fun and and only takes 45 minutes to do! So without furder ado, below is joyrobinson’s whole wheat mayo choco cake!

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Baking Time: 30 minutes
Total Time: 45 minutes
Serving: 4-6 persons

Ingredients:

3 cups flour 400g
1 1/2 sugar 250g
1 1/2 mayo 360
1/3 cocoa 35 g
1 1/2 water 350 ml
2 tablespoon vanilla
1 tablespoon baking soda

Procedure:

  • Preheat the oven to 180 celsius.
  • In a large bowl combine all solid ingredients, flour, sugar, cocoa and baking powder and mixed well.

  • Add on the mayonnaise and mix using a hand mixer to combine.

  • Slowly add on the water and give it a goof mix. Then add the vanilla extract and stir until smooth enough.

  • Grease the baking pan with a little bit of olive oil or any cooking oil. (This will help the cake not to stick on the pan.) Slowly pour the mixture into the pan and place inside the oven. Bake for 30 minutes. (You will know it’s done when you insert a toothpick and have it come out clean.)

  • Remove from oven and allow to cool. I put a shreded coconut for topping. You can use any fruits or icing you like and it’s done!

How does it taste? It’s moist and the sweetness is just enough.

Hello Zord! It’s not compressed and not spongey either. It’s moist in the inside which is great because I love moist cake. Not the richest moist cake on earth but it taste yum 😋
