Goat farms have long been cultivated by farmers or the community as a sideline or savings for maintenance and marketing of production (both meat, milk, dirt and leather) is relatively easy.

Although traditionally has given considerable results, if maintenance is improved (to be semi intensive or intensive), weight gain can reach 50-150 grams per day. There are three main things to consider in goat farming, namely: seeds, food, and governance.

Seeds

Seed selection should be tailored to the purpose of the business, whether for broiler, or dairy (eg bean goat for meat production, etawah goat for milk production, etc.). In general, the characteristics of good seeds are able-bodied, not defective, clean and shiny hair, high adaptability to the environment.
Characteristics for the prospective parent:
Compact body, deep and wide chest, back and waistline straight, big body, but not too fat.
Tame and eye friendly.
Straight legs and high heels.
Dental complete, able to graze well (efficient), upper and lower jaw flat.
From the offspring of twins or single born but from a young mother.
Symmetrical thud, not hanging and berputing 2 pieces.
Characteristics for prospective males:
The body is large and long with the back is bigger and taller, the chest is wide, not too fat, dashing, active and has a high libido (libido).
The legs are straight and strong.
From twin descent.
Age between 1.5 to 3 years.

FOOD

The type and mode of administration is adapted to the age and condition of the animals. The feed given should be enough protein, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals, easily digestible, non-toxic and preferred cattle, cheap and easy to obtain.

Basically there are two kinds of food, namely forage (various types of grass) and additional meals (derived from nuts, fish meal, coconut meal, vitamins and minerals).
How it is given:
Given 2 times a day (morning and afternoon), weight of grass 10% of goat weight, give also drinking water 1.5 - 2.5 liters per cow per day, and salt sufficient iodine.
For pregnant goat, mother suckling, dairy goat and frequent mated males need to be added booster food in the form of porridge of 0.5 to 1 kg / head / day.
