Is election a do or die issue?

In the days of our forefathers in person of Obafemi Awolowo, election was not like this but we still say that the election of those period is not free and fair enough.
On the year 1993, Nigeria experienced free and fair election but the winner was not announced to the reason best known to the then government.

Election of nowadays now proves to me that all the then elections was free and fair because their is no high level of bloodshed during the campaign and on the day of the election. Looking back at the election of the year 1999 when Chief Obasanjo became the president of Nigeria, everything went well but why are we not killing and destroying properties in the name of campaign in these era of ours.

Why will we have to fight ourselves in the name of opposition parties. Why do we have to destroy properties and put end to lives we can make to work again?. Why do we have to allow political parties to create war between our brothers?.

Am not saying we should not go for the party we like but we just have to be caution because if election is over, who are we going to go back too? Is it the people we have kill during election or the house that we have burndown that will gives us shelter?
Just think and make the right choice.
