THE POWER OF VALUE
In life people do what they value and value what they do. Values are personal beliefs that propels us to action or to a particular kind of behavior and lifestyle. Values are emotional anchors that determine where we go, the things we do and the company we keep. Values determine our interest, our preferences, our commitment, the things we respect and the principles we adhere to. Values clarity purpose, they enable us to see things worth living and dying for.
Roy Disney said,
It's not hard to make decisions when you know what your values are.
For example, if your house is on fire and you are given the opportunity to save only one item, what would you save? That is a reflection of the things you value. You can't value the wrong things and expect to have the right things. If you value the bottle, the best you can become is a drunkard. If you value the cigarette above your health, you will become a smoker. If you value clothes the best you can be us a good dresser.
Heavy eaters value food while gossip and critics value talking more than work. Spectators value watching people play. Lazy people value sleeping and watching TV. A good husband values his wife and a good father his children.
Your values determine who you are and what you will become. What we lack today is poverty of values. People value the wrong thing go. We can never achieve greatness with wrong values. Superior thinkers think in terms of getting the best benefits from their decisions. They are clear about what they stand for and what they believe.
It's not hard to make a decision when you know what your values are. Your value determines your decisions in life and your decision determines your destiny.
