Freewrite Day 647 - Ashtrays all Over the House

I’m posting at a time of high stress and uncertainty now.

Lately @mariannewest has been on an anti-health kick. We have had many freewrite prompts about smoking, drinking, and junk food. But she is also working like a champ on actifit, so I think this is all in her head.

Canva has no free photos for ashtrays, and many gross photos of them that you can buy. But if you look up “cigarette” instead, you can see some ashtrays in cigarette photos for free. So the cigarette photographers do not know that ashtrays are where it’s at for money over there.

I can remember a time when many people had ashtrays all over the house. Even those that did not smoke would have some ashtrays available for people who did. Now people do not even have ashtrays in their home when they smoke themselves, and go outside to light up instead.

The very few times I have gone to people’s homes that still do smoke inside, I really notice the bad smell. I don’t remember noticing it at all as a kid and young person. Maybe that is how I thought homes were supposed to smell.
