Every living organisation! Is made up of minute cells most of which can only be seen with the assistance of an instrument called microscope. The words cell come from the Latin word cells meaning small room: the form in which magnified dead cells of a cork.

PROPERTIES OF CELL
The cell is microscopic in size because it is generally too small to be seen by naked eye except by the use of an instrument called microscope. Eggs of animals are large cells which could be 600mm or more in diameter as in the egg of ostrich. However, most cells are between 10 and 100mm in diameter.
Cells vary in shape with some having irregular shape which constantly changes such as amoeba and white blood cells while others have definite shapes that can be cylindrical like palisade cells of the leaf, spherical oroval as in parenchyma or star-like (stellate) with radiating arms like nerve cells or long and elongate cells like fibres.
Cells are capable or dividing to form new cells in multicellular oranism or from new individuals in unicellular (a cellular) organism.
Cells can increase in size and undergo change or modification in form I'm order to perform varying functions
Cells contain smaller units called organelles which perform specific function of life for the well-being of each cell and entire organism. In multicellular organisms, cells specialize for different functions (this is division of labour).
A cell has three basic structure I.e. cell membrane cytoplasm and nucleus.
