Ulography #11: Thathara Architecture !!!

This is my Ulography #11, and today I will be sharing the photographs on ***Thathara Architecture*** style which is practiced in Himachal Pradesh or high altitude areas.
Sage Jamdagni Temple, Tosh
This type of construction can be observed for houses and temples in the high altitude areas.
Thathara term is locally used for wooden planks, also known as Tholas. It is basically a combination of timber wood and stone.
This type of construction has been practiced for more than 400 years.
The houses built using this type of construction is mostly rectangular in shape, with 2-3 storeys and holes are made in wooden planks for the ventilation.
In this type of architecture a building doesn't share a common wall with adjacent building.
These types of buildings are two-three storeys, where ground floor is used for household storage or for pet animals like cattle and upper floors are used for living and these are single family houses. You can't imagine a elevator in this type of building.
Thin slates are used as roof cladding, small windows are there in the building to provide the proper ventilation and to keep the house cozy in winters.
The length of the building is between 4-12 meters and witdth is between 5-8 meters. The whole tree trunk is used for the beams of the building and each storey length is about 2-3 meters.
