The History of Monuments from the Ship of PLTD APUNG 1

Today I visited the PLTD Apung 1. This ship is one of the tsunami monument in Aceh. Ship of PLTD Apung 1 (Diesel Power Plant) was purchased by Aceh Province to increase electricity. The ship is capable of generating 10.5 megawatts of electrical power.

Hari ini saya mengunjungi kapal laut PLTD Apung 1. Kapal ini merupakan salah satu monumen tsunami di Aceh. Kapal PLTD Apung 1 (Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Diesel) dibeli oleh Provinsi Aceh untuk menambah tenaga listrik. Kapal ini mampu menghasilkan daya listrik sebesar 10.5 megawatt.

The ship of PLTD Apung 1 has a length of 63 meters, the area is 1,900 square meters and weighs 2,600 tons. This ship became a silent witness of the tsunami, and is now used as a monument located in Punge Village, Blancut, Banda Aceh.

Kapal PLTD Apung 1 memiliki panjang 63 meter, luasnya 1.900 meter persegi dan bobotnya 2.600 ton. Kapal ini menjadi saksi bisu tsunami, dan kini dijadikan monumen yang terletak di Desa Punge, Blancut, Banda Aceh.

Before the tsunami the PLTD Apung 1 vessel was located in Ulhee lheeu harbor. This ship dragged tsunami waves (wave height 9 meters) as far as 5 kilometers and crashed in the middle of the settlement. The existence of this monument shows how devastating tsunami waves that occurred in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam.

Sebelum tsunami kapal PLTD Apung 1 terletak di pelabuhan Ulhee lheeu. Kapal ini diseret gelombang tsunami (tinggi gelombang 9 meter) sejauh 5 kilometer dan terhempas di tengah pemukiman penduduk. Adanya monumen ini menunjukkan betapa dahsyat gelombang tsunami yang terjadi di Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam.
