Snails are shellfish known as very slow and slow animals. In addition, it turns out there is a unique fact of snails that are not widely known. The unique fact is that snails can sleep for long periods of time, even within 3-4 years. Well, this snail's sleep process is called hibernation process.
Hibernation is a condition of inactivity and a decrease in animals characterized by lower body temperature, the speed of metabolism becomes slower, and breathing becomes more slowly. Knowing such facts is certainly a lot of questions that arise from us all, where one of the questions we want to ask about the reason why the snail can sleep that long.
Well, we need to know all snails are animals whose lives will depend on the humidity of the environment where they are, if they do not mendaptkan fluid or lack of liquid so it is not wet, then the possibility of things that will happen that they will die. Although some snails are able to dig into the soil to get away from the dry air, it may not be enough for their own survival. If the situation has become dry or too hot, the snails will find a place to hibernate until the climate really suits them. Snails do hibernation or sleep for long periods as it aims to develop their survival by being directed to maintain their own body moisture. And it is for this reason that most snails have an active nature in the day, sleeping during the day and foraging at night.
