Regency of Bener Meriah

Monument Rimba Raya Radio was built to commemorate the history of Radio Rimba Raya which plays a very big role in defending Indonesia from Dutch aggression. This monument was inaugurated by the Minister of Cooperatives / Head of Logistic Affairs Agency, Bustanil Arifin on 27 October 1987 at 10:30 pm. The monument is located in Kampung Rime Raya, District Pintu Rime Gayo, Bener Meriah Regency. This monument in addition to being a historic place also became one of the interesting attractions to visit. "The Republic of Indonesia still exists, because the republican leader still exists, the republic army still exists, the republican government still exists, the republic is still here and here is Aceh".
A short piece of broadcast from the terrestrial highland of gayo aired through a radio station of one kilowatt at frequencies 19.25 and 61 meters. News of Indonesia's independence was spread to various neighboring countries at that time.
Radio Rimba Raya (1948-1949) is the only Radio Republik Indonesia Emergency aired from the Gayo Highlands, or precisely in Pintu Rime Sub-district, now part of Bener Meriah Regency, by the Army of the Republic of Indonesia X / Aceh Division led by Colonel Husin Joseph.
Through this radio broadcast messages struggle to maintain Indonesia's independence. Because at that time Yogyakarta which is the capital of the Emergency Government of the Republic of Indonesia has been controlled by the Dutch. The radio has a signal call: "Radio Voice of the Republic of Indonesia", "Suara Indonesia Merdeka", "Rimba Raya Radio", "Radio Division X", "Radio Republik Indonesia".
