The modern Yemeni Republic was born in 1990 when traditionalists of North Yemen and South Yemen joined the Marxists after years of war and border fighting. But the peace was broken in 1994 because of the civil war.
Since the unification of Yemen has modernized and opened up to the world, but still retains many tribal characters and old ways. Tensions persist between the north and south, some south say the northern part of the country is an economic privilege. As a result Economic growth is weak. High inflation, unemployment rate increased. There are no jobs to accommodate unemployment, causing a large budget deficit as well.
