It's a normal day. You are doing your usual thing on the computer such as updating your spreadsheet and your word files.

But when it is time to browse the internet you opened your favorite browser such Google Chrome but you are surprised to see that it can't connect to the internet.

You tried to open Mozilla Firefox but it can't browse the internet either. You felt geeky and opened a command prompt to ping google.com and to your surprise it replied.

You thought it's only a minor error on the computer and you restarted your computer but to no avail it did not fix the problem.

So, what could be the culprit in keeping Firefox and Chrome browse the internet?

If you are using Avast Antivirus chances are it is the one that messed-up your computer's internet connection.

I have experienced it before in Windows XP. Just today, two computers were unable to connect to the internet. Both computers have Avast Antivirus installed the operating system of the computer is Windows 7 and Windows 10.

I thought the problem only happens on Windows XP. But now I have confirmed that it can also happen on two of the most reliable operating system from Microsoft, Windows 7 and Windows 10.

The Fix

If you happen to experience the same scenario just like what I mentioned above and you are using Avast as your antivirus you need to uninstall and install Avast antivirus if you did not want to change your antivirus.

If uninstalling and reinstalling Avast does not fix the problem you need to use another antivirus until the problem has been fix by Avast.

You can use Windows Defender for the meantime if you want.
