My eSteem Story

in #esteem-awesome8 years ago

Someone once told me I enjoyed doing things the hard way, and I accepted that until I joined Steemit, January this year. The first thing I wondered was if the platform had an app, and I was told it didn’t.

I was sad.

I needed something easier to navigate through while I tried to understand what was and was not acceptable on the platform. I needed an easy way to learn about Steemit... I didn’t want it to be hard, and so, learning that there was no app for the platform was not good news.
I managed, navigating through, posting as much as I could and as well as I could.

Then one day I saw a post by some whale, either @jerrybanfield or someone else, I can’t remember clearly, but the person talked about ways which one could post on Steemit and be rewarded, and he mentioned the Esteem App.

I love rewards!

I love appreciation, I love recognition, and I love knowing that I am relevant, and here was this whale was telling me that instead of the little upvotes I get here and there, which makes it appear like I was wasting my time, I could post with this app and I will be rewarded for my hard work.

I was estatic!

So I went to Google Store and I saw it. Its logo looked so uneventful, and I wondered what I have gotten myself into but decided to hold my doubts until I downloaded it.

When it was fully downloaded, I realised that the whale didn’t do the App justice.

The first thing I noticed was that I could add my pictures, hallelujah!

You see, my account looked incomplete without a picture and when I inquired on how to go about it, I was told some long process of doing that, and I decided it was too hard (proving someone wrong again). So seeing that I could add my pictures to my profile was actually an answered prayer.

The next thing which gave me joy was the post submission interface. I noticed I could edit and work on my post better, and it was like having Microsoft Word on Steemit! This was long before I went through the markdown styling guide, and so you can imagine how I felt, in fact it was like I found gold.

So I began writing with Esteem, and for added measure, I used the esteem tag, and I tried to post what I believed were good posts, and somehow, I realised that I rarely visited the website page of Steemit.

Then I checked my account and saw the upvotes, wow! I felt humbled to have gotten so much for my work. It was some sort of validation from the Steemit community and for the first time, I felt welcome.

Esteem helped grow my reputation and my followers too, but apart from all these gains, it helped/helps my flow on Steemit. With the settings, I get to know when I have been upvoted, I get to know who gave the upvote, I get to know when I am mentioned, I get to be in charge of my account, and that is the best ease of use experience I could ask for.

Esteem arranges my posts and resteems in order, shows me how my reputation is growing, tells me how much voting power I have, and it also has my feed as the homepage and so I get to see what I have missed immediately I click on the app.

Finally, I am a Nigerian, and I recently realised I could see how much my post has garnered in my own currency (NGN), talk about stress free, as I am not exactly a fan of calculations.
The Esteem App has been a huge part of my Steemit journey, and I don’t see our relationship ever ending, as I am still learning what more the App can do.

Congratulations on your Achievement, @esteemapp. May you go higher!
