If you are an English teacher and need a lesson plan for Spanish speaking students, this can be for intermediate students:

Step 1: Start off with these tongue twisters which can be especially hard for Spanish speakers (5-10 minutes)
Step 2: After the warm up with the twisters move on over to teaching some words that are very difficult for Spanish speakers, read each of them and have students repeat them. It is best to write them on the board if you did not create a handout. (5-10 minutes)
Step 3: Explain the common mistakes section. (10 minutes)
Step 4: Quiz on the difference between teen and ty as in thirteen- thirty have students pronounce the two and then randomly go back forth between pronouncing a teen number and a ty number have the students say A or B to correspond with the number you spoke. Good luck and remember th will be the hardest sound to teach! make sure to explain to your Spanish students in English to make the TH sound our tongue will be between our front teeth, also keep in mind in Spanish the tongue NEVER goes to the front of the mouth! Spanish speakers will not want to place their tongue in the front of their mouths as it is bad manners in Spanish, make sure to let them know it is necessary in English!

   9-10. guy-gay These two words have VERY different meanings.

Common misteaks (mistakes)

Omission of Subject.
Omission of the subject is a very common and understandable mistake that speakers of Spanish make when studying English. Just keep in mind that, unlike Spanish, a subject is always necessary in English.
Here's an example of what I mean:
Students often write( or say):"Is important to talk to the teacher."
They should write: It is important to talk to the teacher.
The word it may not refer to anything, but it is absolutely necessary to make this sentence grammatically correct..

This/ These
First of all, there's the problem in pronunciation.
Spanish speakers tend to pronounce this and these the same.
Students frequently use only this in writing.
They need to realize that there is also a plural form.
Incorrect: "I think all this problems are related to poverty".
Correct : "I think all these problems are related to poverty"
This is singular, whereas these is plural.
