Scarborourgh Tramway and the Land Slip
This is one of the Scarborough Tramways that takes people from the sea front up the cliff to the town. There are 3 of these tramways that have been in use for many years.. I remember these a s a child. The price used to be 2 old pennies when i first went on these. Today i think they are around 50p one way
One of the tramways had a major landslip last year and on a recent visit you could see the local council have started work to re enforce the cliff side.
Here you can see very long holes been drilled into the cliff side and huge bolts and plates attached to secure the rock face.
There has been lots of errosion on this coast over recent years. Including the loss of a huge hotel that collapsed after the owners removed lots of trees just below the hotels
