Voting Socialism on Dtube. Equality or Fairness? [DTube Exclusive]
Some people again, have been calling for voting socialism and "equality" on dtube. Here are my notes for the entire talk.
- Equality doesn’t equal fairness. And fairness isn’t always equal.
- It will create lazy creators - so if someone in a company is selling 100 products a day and someone else is selling 5 products - you’re calling for equal pay or equal share? That will create laziness and it will not improve the platform.
- If people see that someone who is producing 100x is getting the same amount as someone who is producing 5x - then people will be lazy. I believe in hard work and I’m glad that dtube believes in to. It will set a president for other creators to also put in hard work in their content.
- people are calling for equality - so you’re going to take someone who is the best singer in the world with wide range and then give them the same amount as someone who sings out of tune? Of course not - its not equal, but it’s fair.
- Yeah there is equality
- everyone has the same amount of time to make videos
- everyone has the same amount of effort they can allocate
- everyone has the same uploader to upload on
- everyone has accounts to do what they want with them
- Yeah there is equality
- If equal shares are prioritized over quality and creativity and entertainment value - then all of these things will suffer because nobody has incentive to do better, evolve, be more creative and get better at their craft
- There will be lack of innovation in the platform
- I think it goes to show that dtube knows what it’s doing
- It’s the second largest platform on the steem blockchain
- it’s videos are up
- it’s exposure is up
- Quality of videos are up
- Creativity is up
- Number of quality creators are up
- major personalities are talking about it
- Major personalities are now using it (furiouspete - hodgetwins)
- it was featured in bloomberg
- for all the naysayers out there - dtube is constantly improving. What about you?

I think people who just love creating content will ultimately succeed on this platform. This platform is still a baby. And if Dtube didn't exist, I still would be making videos cause that's what makes my soul happy.
Well said.
That is something I agree with 500% - those that actually love creating content will ultimately succeed. Those that are doing it for any other reason will eventually just quit and those that will be left are the ones who just love to do it and it's a passion. Where there's a will, there's a way.
It's not the blowing of the wind that determines your destination, it the set of the sail. The dtube winds blows on us all. Don't wish for more votes wish for more production value! You know Jim has the answer to everything, right?
wow what a SOLID answer.!!!
I agree with the mentality, but I say it only works if time, effort and talent are actually factors considered in reward.
My experience has not necessarily been that. Most of the time, my "make it in a flash" vids are the ones that get highly rewarded, and my quality vids that I have shared to other platforms and have taken the time to really do right, don't get upvoted. This would be an incentive then to make shitty content.
Time is money, so why wouldn't you spend the least amount of time doing something for the max return?
There is no perfect voting system. I can def say that. I do think that the one we have is kind of hectic, and I really can't see a correlation between quality and upvote. Sometimes they intersect and sometimes they don't, which makes things that much more confusing.
I have just become comfortable with throwing my hands up in the air and hoping for the best. Creating content for Dtube and trying to get compensation for said content feels somewhat akin to throwing darts at a board and hoping one sticks. It can be profitable if you are lucky, but maddening if you are not.
I think very little of it has to do with quality though.
Just my two cents!
I agree that there are things that get missed once in a while. Quality can mean many different things also. Quality message. Quality entertainment. Quality cinema. Quality comedy. Quality information. I'm glad the dtube curators are human though and because of that, maybe not everything is seen or since quality is subjective than what you or I might see as "quality" might not be quality for someone else.
It's not perfect, but it's working. And I'm sure it'll just get better moving forward.
Yes well, always the contrarian me. :)
Haha! At least always speaking your mind and it’s actually based on logic and reasoning.
YES!!!!!
What I've found to be the key to success in Social Media is "value". Value, of course, is subjective because there are a lot of successful YouTuber's and Dtuber's who's content I don't watch, yet they do incredibly well. My friends and I used to joke back in the 80's about Daytime Television. We'd say, aim low and you'll find your audience. Once you discover what people like then you can bring them value, BUT, then you have content that has more intellectual, practical and logical value. You can think of that as a "service" versus "entertainment". Social media also generates a lot of superficial success. Sex and attraction sales.
#1 sums it up :)
Its great Quote "Wise men Talk because they have
something to say fools, because they have to say
something"
Could not agree more!
I can't be agree with most of this, if someone spent time to do a good work he just has to be rewarded even if it's with 1%, and dtube can do it. I have a little baby and I have a work and I am not a native speaker, to record a video it take me about one hour and the other hour to edit it and remove things I don't like and an other hour to promote it and post it. Why I have to spend 3 hours and getting nothing, if my followers are upvoting me with about $1, the half will go to steem and it's 0.5 and dtube takes 25% so it's about 0.3 I earn from a video ? If I will share it in youtube and share it in my post I will even earn a bit more, but I trust dtube ! I use dtube to be rewarded ! Posting 17 videos and getting only one upvote from dtube is not fair.
You don't have problems with earning that's why you are happy I think and positive about dtube. Maybe dtube upvotes only native speakers, maybe only very high quality video, maybe just if we have intro and all that stuff. But what about a simple blogger that spend his time to create something middle, not so good but ok, I am not a spammer, I never beg for upvotes, anyway, I will record a video about that. It's a topic that hurts.
