Is Bitshares Open-Ledger behind on EOS transfers?

in #eos6 years ago (edited)

Just wanted to put this out to the community to see if anything unusual is going on with the Bitshares DEX or EOS. I've done several transfers of EOS to MEW before to the same ethereum address, but this one is taking a long time to confirm (now about 4 hours with no sign of the transaction).

I've checked the ethereum address and find no errors whatsoever. Is network congestion currently a problem?

I'm not exactly a novice at this anymore as I've been studying for almost a year and a half on programming blockchain now. I have already contacted open-ledger about the problem.

Upvoted for visibility.

Update: Everything finally confirmed OK. Took almost 5 hours though!

This suggests that you should not wait until the last minute to send off your EOS to a registered ethereum address.

I hope you transaction may get through. Just wanted to know that EOS would become non-transferable to any exchange or something after 1st june? Also, how much bitshares should be held in order to get some monthly profit as you mentioned in previous post :) Sorry, just noob questions

I figured there might be a bottleneck of transfers happening right now because of the snapshot soon to take place by June 1st. I understand the technical issues here. Just wondering what could have gone wrong since I've checked the address multiple times and it's absolutely correct.

Bitshares doesn't have a monthly rent option AFAIK, but EOS will.

Thank you for nice information. So, its true that transfer of EOS would stop! It means no selling on exchanges?

Yes, because EOS is just a token trading on Ethereum platform right now. EOS will have it's own blockchain come June 3rd or so.

So nice of you, just another stupid question, is it better to keep my EOS tokens in exchange or in MEW?

If you haven't sent them to either Metamask or MEW by June 1, then you might lose your EOS. If you trust Bitshares Open.EOS to hold them for you, then maybe you'll come out on the other side with EOS, but don't do that!

Make sure you use the register procedure to register your EOS public key before June 1 to the ethereum address holding your EOS tokens. Or sell before June 1 if you don't understand how this works.

Awesome mate. I highly appreciate your response. Would follow the registration :)

Not really familiar with bitshares but a reason might also be soaring transaction fees on the Ethereum network, if you started with a “low“ gwei your transaction can get stuck...

Bitshares doesn't appear to give an option here for setting the gas limit like MEW does. Since it's not really an ethereum exchange, this must be managed some other way.

Likely they set the fees automatically, but if there is spike in price just afterwards your transaction might get stuck.
Just another proof, that it's high time to get this joke behind us and have a feeless and fast network;)

I am not sure how far open.ledger can be trusted. I was looking for a bitEOS smart coin, which would be able to track the price through the transition with 0 complications. Strangely I could not find but this seems the most natural idea. Now it is a bit late to issue one though.

grateful for sharing this information
