EOS is all over the place. I have a strong feeling it'll be a massive disruption.

My task for this week is to take out time to study and understand EOS. So, since the inception of the week, I have delved into researching on EOS. Truth is, the hype about EOS led me into researching. I'm not a fan of delving into things because a whole lot of people are in it, many a times, popular decisions don't eventually turn out to be right, so, I decided to know for myself. One word I'll say about EOS for now, is:

EOS is the biggest!!!

EOS's invasion into the blockchain space is all over the place, and I have a strong feeling that it'll be a massive disruption. As far as I've researched, I discovered that the features of EOS are inexhaustible and it'll become so valuable it'll be tasking to quantify its value.

In the midst of all the excitement and fussy around its official launch come June 2018, I see a need for the spread of its functions/use/benefits to be simplified, most especially for lay men and newbies in the crypto space. Nevertheless, it behooves you that are reading this blog to go out of your way and reserch about [EOS](https://eos.io) for yourself.

EOS Hackathon 01

Whilst researching on EOS, I discovered this awesome opportunity:
EOS Hackathon 01.

Hosted by EOS VC and Block.one, the EOS Global Hackathon series, due to kick off in June, is a first-of-its-kind event in the world of blockchain — but its real direction depends on your input and support. Registration is now underway for Hackathon 1 in Hong Kong, on June 9–10. We’re also inviting the community to submit video pitches outlining ideas for dApps that build on the EOSIO platform to advance the mission of creating free market solutions for life, liberty, and property around the world via blockchain technology. To enhance the global nature of the first event, in Hong Kong, we are offering the chance to win travel stipends for you and your team to attend the event. All you need to do is put together a video pitch and get the community to vote for it.

The Hackathon is a series billed to kick of from June 2018 and end in December 2018. Block.one have set aside $1,500,000 worth of cash awards, gifts and travel stipends for participants. Now, this presents an opportunity for creative minds to team up and come up with Dapps that'll be built on the eos blockchain, like we have @dsound, @dlive @dtube, @steepshot, @steemgigs, @zappl @busy.org @utpian-io and a host of others on the steem blockchain. Ono I think is the flagship Dapp on the eos blockchain already existing and ready to run soonest, thanks to Ke Xu and the @onosocial team.

I'll tip/suggest a couple of great minds for this:

I don't know how far this will go, but, I think it's worthy of your consideration especially you that are passionate about EOS, and most especially, Nigerians and Africans alike. We should be looking forward to the first Dapp built on EOS from Africa, right? These are my thoughts. Recently, @jerrybanfield launched a program to sponsor creators with great projects on the steem blockchain, there was a fund set aside for that. I see this opportunity taking the same model as @jerrybanfield's.

I know a couple of awesome African programmers, great minds and idealists here that I strongly believe will make a great success of this opportunity. To mention a few:

@ejemai @tojukaka @samstickkz @akintunde @gbenga @gee1 @jeaniepearl @ewuoso @olawalium @eurogee @ogoowinner @ehiboss @kofpato @nairadaddy @sparklez @mosunomotunde @thelovejunkie @fisteganos @adejoke16 @jo5h

it'll be good to form a think-tank and bring this home. I'm aware a couple of guys and esteemed eos enthusiasts are already ambassadors representing EOS in Africa, highly commendable I must say, however, I think this will be massive if we team up and give it a shot. I also discovered that the team doesn't necessarily have to consist of programmers only. It's a team of like-minds with and idea, and idea that'll be adaptive to Africa, what Africans can relate with. Even now, as I'm writing, a whole lot is going through my mind.

Details on how to participate and schedules on the events can be found here

Let's do this for Africa. I see business models in the order of Konga, Jumia, hotels.ng, andela, wakanow and the likes springing forth from this. Let's not forget that a couple of these startups had the backing of venture capitalists such as rocket internet as back up for their start.

These are my thoughts. I may be enlightened the more.
