EOS blockchain split testing different variants of the same idea?

in #eos7 years ago (edited)

When Brock Piece took to the stage at the World Blockchain forum and declared "we are not competing on any project". I thought "huh ??? wtf !"... "split testing different variants of the same idea" he went on "if any one of us is successful in changing the world, we all win, the only competion that is out there is the people who lack integrity, those are the people we need to compete with." to applause and cheering.

So, this got me thinking, Brock Piece is a Co-Founder of Block.one, Dan Larimer's partner.

When Dan Larimer appeared on The Dollar Vigianti with Jeff Berwick he absolutly agreed with Jeff "that EOS is a direct competitor to Ethereum".

Then it dawned on me! Brock isn't contradicting Dan, nor is he suggesting the people behind Ethereum lack integrity! he's referring to the EOS project, he is referring to different variants of the EOS blockchain.

"any person who wishes to launch a public blockchain platform adopting the open source EOS.IO Software (an “EOS Platform”) will be able to generate a file or “snapshot” showing the fixed balances of the EOS Tokens from the state of the Ethereum blockchain (the “Snapshot”)."

Do you think Brock is referring to variants of the EOS blockchain ?

Another potential explanation...

I had a similar answer to a question I asked once, we were talking about how block.one will be developing dapps on top of the EOS blockchain. I said what about us small guys and he said "we are not competing with any project"

Block.one see EOS as a platform to run their dapps, when you think of it that way then you can see that their competition isn't really at the platform level. As long as EOS can do what they need it to then they are ok with platform competition.

Good explanation, that corresponds with the statement "block.one won't be configuring and/or launch any EOS platform". Curious to what other dapps block.one will develop besides the token distribution interface. Also how many variants of EOS might we see come June 2018. I might launch EOS 1 : )

I believe it will prove itself someday.

There might be a contradiction there, but a healthy one, I think. Both assertions are relative truths, don't you think?

Absolutly and I like to think alighned incentives and split testing differant variants of the same idea is the main assertion. Include the concept of a protocols social layer and things can really start to get interesting. Imagine future projects using the same EOS token 'snapshot' to create split variants of EOS.

things come before the original sometimes.....think of jesus many variants were here before the perfect one....eoc is to arrive when the moment presents....ethereum has arrived before the perfected one
