Ransom hacks will drive interest in blockchain technology
Thinking outside the box here... These ransom hacks that are occurring are going to create a perfect storm for blockchain technology growth.
Hackers continue to hack into systems of large companies and download large portions of data from their network. They hold this data ransom, asking the company to pay a hefty price for the "discovery" of this weakness in their network. The latest victim is HBO and the hackers are demanding $6M worth of Bitcoin as payment... Bitcoin, how fitting.
I believe that companies will start flocking towards use of blockchain technology for data security. I feel strongly the EOS (block.one)will be the platform that will be the go to solution for data security and practical use of blockchain technology.

Yes! A lot of implications here. It helps fill the "seedy" stigma of cryptocurrencies with the criminal acts. At the same time I feel companies will have to seek out information on how best to protect themselves from people of the same interest group that happens to be causing them damage. This news is also going to plant a seed in the minds of hackers that this is a viable method to get rich quick. Crazy stuff on the horizon.
