💡Register your EOS! How to - Step by Step💡

in #eos6 years ago

An often not mentioned IMPORTANT point when investing in EOS is the following ...

Man MUST register his tokens held in MyEtherWallet on the future EOS Blockchain!

Many users believe in the purchase of tokens, the work is done -> WRONG !!!

Especially for people who like their EOS tokens on Shapeshift or similar. It is important to note the following when purchasing platforms.

By 3 July 2018 at the latest, you must register your tokens on the EOS Blockchain.

Why ?

As the EOS Blockchain is currently under development, there is still no executable product. It will not be online until July 2018. For this purpose, a so-called Genesis block is created. This contains all Ethereum addresses that hold EOS tokens. These tokens are then converted to native EOS tokens.

And right here lies the dog buried. Only Ethereum addresses that have created an EOS account and have registered with the Ethereum address will be considered. You simply have to link your Ethereum address with a newly created EOS address.

If you have not done so by 3 July 2017 at the latest, the new EOS Blockchain will not be included in the Genesis block. This means that your EOS token that you hold on your Ethereum address, in the worst case, worthless.

The EOS tokens that are registered are likely to be converted into EOS tokens one to one and you will then see them under your EOS account in the new blockchain.

How to register your EOS tokens

1. Create EOS keypair

You create a new keypair with the EOS Key Generator. To do this you need to go to the page https://nadejde.github.io/eos-token-sale/ and click on "Generate EOS key"

Saves the data - it is the same as with all other private keys - if you lose them, you also lose access to your account !!!! Do BackUps and NEVER LOSE YOUR DATA !!! Saves your public key and your private key somewhere safe! With this data, you will then next year, after the launch of the EOS platform, on your account. If you lose it ... you also lose your access and tokens stored there.

2. Registration of the EOS tokens

Get hooked on your MyEtherWallet and click on "Contracts" above. Then look for "EOS - Contribution" at "Select Existing Contract", click on it and then click on "Access". Then follow the instructions in section 2. - "Register / Map your EOS Key" At "Select a function" you select "register". In the input field "key string" you then enter your public key of the EOS Blockchain you have saved in step one. WATCH OUT !!! NOT the private key !!!!

Unlock your MyEtherWallet and then click on "Write" below. Confirms the transaction with "0" ether and at least "90000" gas.

If you buy the EOS tokens directly from the "EOS-Distribution Contract" in MyEtherWallet, you should do the same, but of course you only have to run the third and fourth part of the contract ("Fund EOS Contract on Send Page" and " Claim EOS Tokens ")

For those who already have their tokens in the MyEtherWallet, it is enough to execute points 1 and 2.

Of course, tokens which you will need to buy later will not be registered again. It is enough if you have registered your Ethereum address once with your EOS public key. All tokens that will be added later will be considered as well.

I suspect that towards the end of the distribution period it will be increasingly pointed out that you have to register your tokens! Not to forget if you forget that and then look silly out of the wash in June next year.

Check the registered EOS address

Check if your EOS public key is linked to your Ethereum address. You go back to "Contracts" and select "EOS - Contribution" at "Select existing Contracts". Click "Access" again and select "Select a function" the item "Keys". In the field "adress" you enter now your MyEtherWallet address. Then you click on "Read" and in the field "string" then appears your public key of the registered EOS address.

If you've lost your EOS keypair, you can simply register a new one and repeat step two to register with the new EOS public key.

Good information dude but then exodus wallet has a 1-click option that is so much easier.

www.exodus.io

I also use Exodus to a certain extent, but I actually just went ahead and registered with my Ledger Nano S. The only fear I have with the Exodus wallet is that in the case of airdrops in the future, not sure if Exodus would support that (eosdac.io). You would have to go through a lot more trouble to get those airdropped coins.

Not at all, I have received my eosDAC already and can export my eos pub/private keys, import them into any other wallet (MEW) for instance and boom done. Or just wait for the official EOS wallet to be released and double boom, same deal.

oh... for real??
I have exodus too...
sh...ush :-D

I think it has only block using shapeshift.... I mean shape shift. If so that is no big deal, I will check if the reg still works
