Custom made EOS Bomber Jacket
I made this EOS - Nicole Scherzinger bomber jacket (all from scratch). I used my own body measurements. I watched a videoclip at Youtube of Nicole Scherzinger. The song/video is called: Boomerang. When I saw the bomber jacket she was wearing, I wanted to make it :-). I don't know where she bought it. You have to watch it a bit longer and you will see the bomber jacket she is wearing in this vid.
My mother in law gave me once a roll of checked tweed fabric. She got that for free from a friend in Germany. I am not really a fan of tweed, especially not checked tweed! But I gave it a try after getting inspired by Nicole Scherzinger- Boomerang videoclip :-).
I bought a zipper, a bag of small white beads and ordered black faux leather for the sleeves, waist and and collar. I did not read the small letters on their website saying they are on holiday till 13th of August..... I ordered 2,5 weeks ago!
This is my first time beading on fabric, so please forgive me for the flaws :-). It took me 3 hours beading the beads on the fabric. I was shocked when I looked at the time: 01.30 AM already! Either I am slow, or it just takes a lot of time to bead. But for sure I need to learn and practice more. Practice makes perfect they always say.
I made sure the stripes will be in line with each side
Here you also see, under the sleeves they are nice in line.
Day 1: Drawing patterns and cutting fabric
Day one was measuring and making the patterns from scratch and cut on the tweed checked fabric. I never use ready patterns, they are too big anyway :-D.
I wanted raglan sleeves, so I changed the normal sleeves into raglan sleeves.
If you don't know what raglan sleeves are:
After I made the patterns, I washed the fabric first. I cut 2 meters of the fabric and washed it cold. After that I let it dry. Then I ironed it. You know with wool, they can shrink in the washing machine and also when you iron for the first time, it can shrink.
Now it's time to cut it on the fabric. I wanted to check if the sleeves were good made, So that's why I cut the sleeves from the tweed fabric as a model. I had to wait anyway 2,5 weeks for the faux leather.
Day 2: Beading EOS logo
So I googled for the EOS logo and printed it out the size I wanted. Then I took a piece of tracing paper and took over the logo. Pinned it on the back fabric. Then I sew the lines with my sewing machine, removed the tracing paper and attached the beads on the fabric using an embroidery ring( that I bought once and never use).
Day 3: cutting and sewing the lining. After that, waiting another 2 weeks for my faux leather to arrive
Day 4: cutting sleeves, collar and waistband on faux leather. Sewing the sleeves and waistband
Sewing faux leather was a pain in the ^ss! You have to be careful not damaging the leather since it is a non-woven material. So I had to be a snail, being afraid I perforate the leather.
Day 5: Attaching zipper, collar and place lining inside jacket
Ready!
Total amount of money spent:
Beads: 0,90 euros + Zipper: 4,50 euros + Faux leather with shipping costs: 17 euros= 22,40 euros.
