What do you guys think of these numbers? Accurate? Misleading? Who can shed some light on this energy consumption? I think if we can nail down some specifics and prove the validity of the energy consumption claims, we can drive more adoption from the POW camps.

There is some additional nuance... only 21 bps are actually producing blocks or "mining" as it were... the actual energy efficiency will vary based on baremetal vs whatever magic the cloud services use to reduce cost and impact. Everyone else running nodes... these are "service providers" instead of miners directly... how much do you attribute them to being "neccessary" but even so summing up all the paid standbys and various API nodes it is still substantially cheaper than running mining GPUs at full blast.

would need to know how many APIs/nodes/etc are on the network. Polling all the producers would be a start but there would also be a number of dapps that would have to volunteer this. Then you need to make some assumptions re power
