Yes it could and I am confident it will be.
EOS is not just another token, it is infact a utility token as are all the airdrops. This means it will bypass the SEC regulation and tax requirements.
With the possibility to rent tokens to dApp developers, participate in the RAM trading market and get free airdrops, EOS will deliver a brand new economic and financial space.
Not to mention the inclusion of the EOS constitution and support for Ricardian contracts. This really is the most exciting crypto to ever launch.

I was hoping that EOS mainnet going live could have been the push the cryptomarket needed, but I guess that by missing the deadline my hope for that is vaporizing!
No deadline has been missed so I'm not sure what timeline you were expecting.
All the updates so far show that the BPs are working together to build a reliable first chain. The mainnet launch was always going to be an interesting process to watch.
Yeah as mentioned, version 1.0 was released on time and latest from the telegram channel is that we should see the mainnet launch in approx 48 hours and not later than 7 days.

I hope that everything will go fine. If some failure happens it will crash Cryptomarket for sure.
If something goes wrong lots of bargains will be available but the market will need lots of time to recover!

I am very curious how inter blockchain communication will work out, reminds me a lot of Ethereums plasma....
It is similar except Plasma is a layer 2 solution which means it will handle transactions off chain for speed. EOS has it baked in baby!!!!!!
