EOS is one of the digital asset projects I'm most excited about excatly for the reasons you mention.

The previous blockchains in Steemit and Bitshares are valuable in their own right, EOS is building off the lessons learned in those already successful projects and creating something with much broader scope and applications. Can't wait to see all the awesome projects that adopt EOS once it goes live!
