A few warnings for newcomers who would like to participite in EOS ICO

in #eos7 years ago

Here is a list of a few warnings for beginners who would like to invest in the ICO. And they are looking for price at eosscan.io and eos.io

Please keep in mind that:

  1. By then end of the period #6 eosscan was DOSSED and the site was showing a much lower price for the critical last 5-10 minutes.

  2. We don't know how often eosscan is updated. If it's every 5-10 minutes with crontab, then you may be screwed if this is a primary source for your decision in last minutes of the window. Also, we don't know how many confirmations need to have every transaction to be taken into account by eosscan.

  3. I hope the eosscan was created with genuine intention, but never 100% rely on values shown in such services.
If the source code isn't published on GitHub, and you can't run your service like that, there is a high chance that you will make a poor decision based on not factual data.

  4. Usually, a single massive bet is placed in each window, which is affecting the price to the vast extent. So the price may double in a single second.

  5. The website as eos.io can also be Dossed, and the Metamask APP may be not accessible.
I think it's much better to get familiar with funding EOS ICO with different clients then Metamask,
( it will pay off in future windows when EOS price get much lower, and the site will be offline due problems )

  6. Don't buy when FOMO is spreading during the day, and EOS price on markets rises. You will end up like people in window #3

  7. I've seen individuals who were buying hours before the window end, based on the elusive amount of tokens they though they could receive. Of course, that price/tokens number is not even close to the final price.

So far besides window #0, the best way to buy EOS is through exchanges.
