In early December of of last year (still seems odd saying that) we watched what could have been an incredible door-opener to bring crypto to the general public. Bringing an element of gamification to owning and investing in cryptocurrency is the best way to help onboard new users and introduce them to blockchain technology and how cryptocurrency really works.

CryptoKitties had the opportunity to do just that - EXCEPT, they chose to use Ethereum, a network that doesn't scale and cannot handle rapid increases in transactions. Not to mention having one of the most complicated transaction fee systems ever devised. We watched as the Ethereum network was brought to its knees by the rush of people buying and breeding digital kittens.

As the dust settled we saw proof to what @Dan has been saying over and over. Now a month later it looks as if most people have given up on CryptoKitties, there are so many in circulation that you can't even sell them for enough to make you initial investment back. The poor little kitties are being abandoned and left out in the the cold and are in need of a savior.

We all had our laughs and made some great MEMEs. If only CryptoKitties and all the other "copyCAT" virtual pet apps were developed on a chain that could handle the transactions with ease, and with no front end fees to the users, the outcome would have been so much different.
