🎤How to Join as a Guest Speaker

Step 4: Reply to this Thread with the following Details:

  1. Topic
  2. Appropriate Links
  3. Steemit and/or Mumble account name of Representative/Speaker
  4. How should we Introduce you/your project/your news coverage?
  5. What is your bitshares account name?

⛒ Is Any Topic Off Limits?

Yes. We reserve the right to learn from the newest trickster trolling steemit consistently searching for way to insert chaos into the equation and devise future strategies for negating these. Naturally if these efforts become ham-fisted attempts at shutting down free speech in honest conversations, the audience will hold us accountable.
But with that said....pretty much anything can be covered--even up to and including current events. However, I personally will only be voting up stories that touch the blockchain in some way shape or form and will be asking the community to downvote absolute Rubbish! ;)

What are Beyondbits and Whaleshares?

Beyondbits and Whaleshares started as a conversations in the BeyondBitcoin hangout series shortly after Steem was launched historically in those very hangouts. It began as "community tokens" or "tag coins" for those who never knew to listen in who may wish to listen to the origins in our BeyondBitcoin Podcast Series. Drop in and listen to them sometime!

These tokens give their hodlers the power to Summon a Whalevote to posts without having to pay for attention. And they are only given to people who Win Contests and do other things of value to the community!
These little hidden gems are held safely just for you. Waiting for the moment when you prove yourself in the arena of contests and hangouts like the whaletank...so if you haven't yet, you should follow @officialfuzzy and watch out for his new contests, or join the Whaleshares Discord where there are a community of Beyondbit Experts!

Thanks to FarmerD for BitShares Support

Suggested Duration: 2 minutes

Many thanks to FarmerD who has been providing English-language support on Telegram for the BitShares reference wallet for many months. FarmerD makes himself available both on that group and also on other BitShares Telegram groups to new users who come into the group with specific questions about the wallet and/or logins to the wallet. He is also assisted on that group by others in the community including @billbutler from the GUI team and others who I am regrettably leaving out.

I will invite Farmer to join at Discord directly and say a few by himself, it would be nice if he could receive some tokens in reward for his awesome and dedicated humanitarian work he has been doing for the eco-system and community. I hope you all agree with that.

@taconator - What exactly means "Regrettably leaving out." ? :(

Cheers,

Luci @apasia.tech

Just that I know that other people also help on the group channel and I regret either forgetting who they are and/or not listing each of them.

BitShares in The Balkans: University Workshop in Zagreb, Croatia

Suggested Duration: 5 minutes

A workshop was held on February 1, 2018 in Zagreb, Croatia at the Effectus University College for Law and Finance. The workshop was run by Bojan Tomić (Head Of The Finance Department & Lecturer at University College for Finance and Law Effectus), and Domagoj Poljak (Undergraduate Teaching Assistant, VP of the Student Government & MBA - Taxes and Corporate Law student).

"Participants are all related to studies & professional activity of finance, economics and business analytics in the Balkans. Namely, Croatia, Bosnia, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Serbia, Slovenia - and will further be active with BitShares Slovenia DEX when launched. Beyond opening the possibility of BitShares to these territories, they are embracing concept of the DAC, and keen to give back to the community by understanding this is a symbiosis which brings potential. Their expertise is already being extended to terminology, both financial and legal areas, of BitShares for applying it to business models in Europe and beyond."

The workshop was supported by @apasia.tech which is in the process of establishing BitShares Slovenia.

@taconator many thanks on behalf of @apasia.tech for this mention and topic discussion. Balkans is strong and unknown territory to many around here, but consists on strong community and some of best Educational resources around the globe.

We tend to believe that Foundation of any success comes from proper education. If Bitshares can be used as a tool in Finance Education in example Bojan and Domagoj presented, but on larger scale, we would accomplish more than just having liquidity or successful token factory.

Bojan is active trader and member of community and more of his students and associates are joining the network. Slovenia as the top organized and regulated country towards Bitcoin and crypto and having successful Corp such as BitStamp that includes Fiat and regulated law about tax on mining, we consider it as best position to start with.

Hosting in Slovenia was hard thing to get and it requested process of paperwork and some q/a regarding security and docs on the product (blockchain) but having a lawyer for an investor, who is willing to participate and dedicate more than just financial resources, it was a great help.

Hope this was helpful addition to topic discussion for you guys.

Cheers!

BitShares Foundation returned excess funds from Worker Proposals to the Blockchains Reserve

Suggested Duration: 2 minutes

The BitShares Foundation returned another 100,000 excess BTS to the BitShares reserve fund/working budget. This brings the total excess funds that were returned by the Foundation to 400,000 BTS.

These excess funds are a result of surplus BTS that are escrowed for different worker proposals handled by the Foundation but which are not needed to pay the workers of each proposal.

"The operation with id 1.11.138993484 has another batch of 100,000 BTS being reserved (e.g. given back to the working budget/reserves). As of today, 382,339.68910 BTS are yet to be reserved. Our current strategy is to reserve those funds in medium-sized chunks to avoid falsifying weekly statistics."

Press Release: Introducing BitFarm---A bitshares based Simulation Game

Suggested Duration: 5 to 10 minutes

The first BitShares-based simulation game is reported to be launched. There is no ICO and no crowdsale; only a free airdrop.

"BitFarm is a game that runs on the bitshares blockchain, and the interaction and social interaction of all data is carried out through the bitshares network. Players can grow different plants to gain different benefits. The more the investment, the greater the income, but the greater the corresponding risk. You can also steal other people's plants after the other's crops have lost their protection. People from all over the world will chat with a chat box, and all the chat records will be stored on the bitshares blockchain network. The official team retained 20% tokens (and lock 12 months), the remaining tokens will be fully open for giveaway. All data will be published in the bitshares blockchain, fair and transparent. There is no ICO/ private sale."

More information can be found on the game's web site.

Press Release: Why the BitcoinLatina Foundation chose BitShares for all decentralized mobile & commerce applications

Suggested Duration: 2 to 5 minutes

"A Social Impact Blockchain for Latin American"

This appears to be a new venture that is focused on Latin America with the aim of “banking the unbanked” and providing stabilizing fluctuating currencies.

It has two functional objectives that are achieved with two different technological components.

The first objective is aimed at facilitating ICO's for projects that are focused on Latin America. This objective is planned to be addressed by using a fork of the Ethereum blockchain.

The second objective to facilitate trading of tokens after ICO, to "bank the unbanked", and to provide stable currencies for the unbanked. This objective is planned to be addressed by using the BitShares blockchain.

This is awesome. Bitshares is taking over. Thanks for sharing this

Following you is a dream come true because I have benefited a lot from your post @officialfuzzy.
