Come Trash With Me

in #environtment5 years ago

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to my neighbourhood. It's a beautiful semi-residential part of this great city, London. There are many awesome things here - popular amenities, a train station, several busses, a post office, our very own fire station, two large supermarkets and several small ones, a collection of pubs, restaurants and everything you can ever want.

Apart from live a great life, and get around London very easily, there are other amazing things you can do here too. Our gardens, grass patches, flower hedges and other such vegetation double as trash eaters! That's right.

If you were ever in my neighbourhood and find yourself in possession of a finished bottle of coke, or an empty pack of cigarettes, simply throw it a the nearest bit of flower beatification you can see. Our hedges are particularly designed to swallow plastic bags full of trash, used or unused napkins from fast food restaurants and random pieces of plastic packaging.

Wait, there's more! If you visited our local KFC and ordered a bucket meal and then realised you can't finish it because you're just the one person? Fear not. Simply chuck the bucket meal, complete with any packaging and plastic bag directly on our roads. It's amazing, the chickens animate themselves at night and deposit themselves in the nearest bin. It's like magic. Please try this if you're ever in my hood. It's one of our favourite past times over here - chucking unfinished fast food on roads.

Are you in a hurry driving through my neighbourhood and cant stop for some trash trowing fun? We have you covered. You can reach for any trash in your car and throw it right out through your window. See how easy that is? No trash in the car? We got ya, again. You can flick your cigarette butts out of the car at will, but preferably at or near the petrol station. Not a smoker? Then why not spit a few times as you drive past a bus stop? You can play target the shoes. It's so much fun.

I really do hope you get to visit my hood one day, so you can see what you've been missing all this time.

Love the satire, Ade :) But is a shame such a beautiful place has to be so disregarded in that manner :(

:) . Yes it's very sad indeed.

Hmm this place looks suitable for #cleanplanet project on Dtube 🤔

Yes it is hahaha. Very highly suitable.

I see a lot of recyclable material - do you have a recycling program in London? Here, in San Diego we have that , plus trash of a different sort - under the greenwashing guise of 'micro-mobility' a dockless sort - eg electric vehicles such as bird and lime scooters and bikes plus wheels - minibikes , all utilized to terrorize pedestrians, kill and injure riders, and litter and block our streets (I don't think they are recyclable either)

Oh yeah. Every home has recycle bins here, but what fun is that? Why use a recycle bin when you can go outside and play hedge target?

Also, there are giant bins every few meters on the roads and sidewalks. Again, that's a killjoy. The roads are much better at receiving trash than bins.

Garbage is a global problem throughout our planet, I also have garbage everywhere, after snow melts it even more. Services that take out garbage work poorly, garbage does not take it out for weeks. I'm afraid our generation may not see green grass and clean water.

this like plastic and others dust very harmful for nature.

How sad to see those photos, people have not evolved! We all know what happens if you do not take care of the environment, campaigns and campaigns are done and nothing ... people continue to harm everything in their path. Will they think that there is a branch on Mars or another planet?
Just yesterday my publication was about how to teach children to take care of the environment, if you want you can visit it. Thankful in advance.

I can’t understand what makes people do this today; the awareness to keep our communities clean has been mich better over the years and the facilities being provided should make it easy for this not to happen. Very disappointing to see this indeed.

We are pretending to be civilised creatures, but we treat our home like this. We are trying to get to the moon but sometimes I feel that maybe the moon/mars is better without us as we are now. Is sad see how many people treat their home life a trash bin...

Last week I've collected bags of rubbish in the hackney wick woods, and I feel we could all do that occasionally, I think it could make the difference, perhaps inspire others to care for environment more. Thank you Ade for bringing the topic up! 🙌💚🌳
