Environmentalist Hypocrisy

Another Letter To My Professor

Think about it, don’t you have to clean up another human’s urine from the toilet seat every time you have to use a public restroom? Haven’t you ever been in a pristine park or community of some kind, and saw a beer bottle or soda can that you had to pick up and throw away? Why is our society this way? It is because people do not have to grow up. The social construct provides them a way to avoid adult responsibility. What is the solution?

First, and most obviously, check yourself. This is self-explanatory. Set an example for others. Next, check your friends and family. The next time they do something unsavory, then say something. If they litter, tell them to pick it up. If you prefer to avoid confrontation, then just pick it up yourself nary a word. They’ll get the message.

What will the long term result of all of this be, and will it be worth it? Eventually, hopefully, the inhabitants of this land, and their children, will grow into more responsible adults who will influence others to follow suit. If you care about the environment, then yes, it is worth it. If you care about the future of your kids, then yes, it is worth it. If you care about your country, then you’d better believe it is worth it.

Also, do you ever wonder why is it a major story when it is exceptionally hot in Arizona, but not when it is below normal temperature there?
