World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought in the North West Region of Cameroon
In a bid to commemorate this year's Desertification and Drought Day, @thegreens in collaboration with the Regional Delegation of Environment, Protection of Nature and Sustainable Development carried a consignment of over 200 fruit, medicinal and ornamental trees to the University of Bamenda.
The trees were received by the Director of the Directorate of Development, Physical Plant and Infrastructure, Prof Fogwe on behalf of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Bamenda.
He welcomed the team and pledging their commitment to transforming the University of Bamenda into a Green School with the collaboration of all the stakeholders present.
Next, we had a group photo that was followed by the tree planting exercise. The Director planted the first tree on behalf of the Vice Chancellor together with the Representative of the Regional Delegate of Environment, Protection of Nature and Sustainable Development.
Next, we had a tree planted by @mr-greens, Founder/Executive Director of @thegreens together with the Director and the Environmentalist of the University.
The tree planting exercise was followed by interviews beginning with the Director, then the representative of the Regional Delegate of Environment, Protection of Nature and Sustainable Development and finally @mr-greens of @thegreens.
In his interview, @thegreens pledged to donate 10,000 ornamental, medicinal and fruit trees to the University, as well as support the University Environmental Club with knowledge and resources that can accelerate environmentalism in the University.
After interviews, the team moved to the University Restaurant for refreshment and then departure.
The Greens is a grassroots environmental organization that strives to educate, inspire and engage young people to take action to combat climate change and be at the forefront of biodiversity conservation and waste management.
