Teacher's blog #3 (Beyond the Call of Duty): Lapu2x Coastal Clean Up

Mactan Island is known for it's beautiful beach and white sand. Lapu-lapu City is known to be the Resort City. One of the source of income of the city is the number of five star resorts.

But sad reality is there are several parts of the island that is polluted and needs attention due to numerous garbage disposal.

So the City Mayor requested the help of locals to clean up the coastal area. It has been an annual project of the mayor.

As teachers we want to show our students the importance of nature and preserving it's beauty not only for the present generation but also for the future to come.

This is beyond the call of duty but we wholeheartedly help in this project. For me it's my 4th time to participate in the coastal clean up.

We may not be able to clean the sea for a day. But a day is enough to save a bit of our environment.

In this way we can teach our students to always lend a helping hand in saving mother earth.

My realization is "We teachers teach from the heart, not from the book."
