Many countries, especially Germany, consider themselves world champions in recycling. But experts consider this to be eye wiping. Hardly anything is as German as the waste separation. Since 1991, with the introduction of the system "Green Dot" in Germany, there is a system of used packaging to win new raw materials. In the meantime, two-thirds of domestic waste is recycled in Germany, a record in Europe. The Federal Ministry of the Interior even has a quota of 80%.

On closer inspection, the supposedly high quota but appears to be extremely questionable. Thomas Obermeier, former president of the DGAW, cites the official figures as eye-wiping. The DGAW considers a quota of 31 to 41 percent as realistic. The decisive factor is the amount of waste entering a recycling facility. But what makes them out of the trash or how efficiently they are recycled - does not matter for the statistics! In fact, the losses in recycling are very high!

• In Yellow Tons, up to 50% end up with "bad luck", such as household waste. Thus, the sorting plants can do nothing. These "misses" are sorted out and burned, but in statistics it counts as "recycled".
• Mixed plastics are very problematic. The recycling of plastic waste is about 12%. The rest is exported to China (which is NOT possible any more since this year !!!). These quantities are also part of the recycling quota as they go through a plant!
• Good enough works the recycling of paper or glass, the ratio is at a realistic 80%.
• Recycling plants that treat household waste, recover metals in particular. The plastic or paper contained in household waste are usually so contaminated that it can only be used as fuel.

The conclusion of the recycling cycle is at best sobering. For many wastes, the cycle is unfortunately just fiction! For example, if plastic is recycled, lower-quality products such as chairs or buckets are produced. For food packaging, the hygiene requirements are too strict. Therefore, the plastic packaging land in the household waste, usually burned. If one were to calculate all these points from the recycling rate, we are well below the quota that is set by the state. Viele Länder, allen voran Deutschland halten sich im Bereich Recycling für Weltmeister. Aber Experten halten dies für Augenauswischerei. Kaum etwas ist so deutsch wie die Mülltrennung. Seit 1991, mit der Einführung des Systems "Grüner Punkt" in Deutschland gibt es ein System aus gebrauchten Verpackungen neue Rohstoffe zu gewinnen. Mittlerweile werden in Deutschland zwei Drittel des Hausmülls recycelt, Rekord in Europa. Das Bundenunweltministerium kommt sogar auf eine Quote von 80%.

Bei näheren Hinsehen erscheint die angeblich so hohe Quote aber als äußerst fragwürdig. Thomas Obermeier, ehemaliger Präsident der DGAW, nenn die offiziellen Zahlen als Augenauswischerei. Die DGAW hält eine Quote von 31 bis 41 Prozent als realistisch. Den entscheidend ist, die Menge an Müll die in eine Recycling Anlage hineingeht. Was diese aber aus dem Müll macht oder wie effizient dort recycelt wird - spielt für die Statistik keine Rolle! Tatsächlich sind die Verluste beim Recycling sehr sehr hoch!

• In Gelben Tonnen landen bis zu 50% "Fehlwürfe", wie Hausmüll. Damit können die Sortieranlagen nichts anfangen. Diese "Fehlwürfe" werden aussortiert und verbrannt, in der Statistik zählt es aber als "recycelt".
• Vermischte Kunststoffe sind sehr problematisch. Die Verwertung von Plastikabfällen liegt bei ca. 12%. Der Rest wird nach China exportiert (was seit diesem Jahr NICHT mehr möglich ist!!!). Diese Mengen zählen ebenfalls zur Recycling Quote da sie eine Anlage durchlaufen!
• Ziehmlich gut Funktioniert das Recyceln von Papier oder Glas, hierbei liegt die Quote bei realitischen 80%.
• Recycling Anlagen die Hausmüll aufbereiten, gewinnen vor allem Metalle zurück. Der im Hausmüll enthaltene Kunststoff oder Papier sind meist so verunreinigt das er nur mehr als Brennstoff verwendet werden kann.

Das Fazit des Recycling Kreislaufs ist allenfalls ernüchternd. Bei vielen Abfällen ist der Kreislauf leider nur Fiktion! Wird zum Beispiel Kunststoff recycelt, entstehen qualitativ mindere Produkte wie Stühle oder Eimer. Für Lebensmittelverpackungen sind die Hygiene Anforderungen zu streng. Daher werden die Kunststoffverpackungen die im Hausmüll landen, meist verbrannt. Würde man all diese Punkte aus der Recycling Quote herausrechnen, sind wir deutlich unter der Quote die uns vom Staat vorgegeben wird. Leider ist das nur Augenauswischerei...
