Meghalaya meaning (The abode of clouds) often known as the Scotland of the East or Home of the natural caves and also known as the homes of the natural water falls or you can say land of the living root bridge. The capital city Shillong is well known as the Rock capital of India.

Recently I got an opportunity to visit Meghalaya and was invited to the sapling distribution programme organized by the Indigenous Bio-Diversity & Social Welfare Org. (IBSWO) and this was the second time i was bestowed with.
It was really a proud moment being apart of the Climate change mission organized by the youths belonging from the khasi community known as IBSWO.

At Mynkre village in Narpuh Elaka East jaintia hills of meghalaya and can be known as the Industrial hub of meghalaya. I must say an industrial hub as you can't even imagine that in only 9 sq. km. area there are 8(eight) counting no's of cement manufacturing industries set up,and which is against an industrial law in India. But how could this be????

And some of the manufacturing plant have even upgrade their unit to double in no less days from the huge profit attained illegally without following stricts norms of the industrial law.

Seeing the present situation of the area it is very sad to learn that few years later it will definitely turn out and will be the pollution center of Northeast India. If the Govt. don't take any such emergency steps towards regulating the indistries out there.

And one among the major problem face by the soil in jaintia hills is the Rat hole mining, digging coal in an appropriate manner for a decade and that has a huge impact to the environment like imbalance of the soil in some part. But recently the NGT has banned this practice of mining and got control the effect.

Few pollutions that has not even shock the people in the state or in India but the whole world like the Lukha river turning blue and many more..

Still than after all these causes the govt. is blind and has turned their deaf ears and gearing up finally to extract uranium from meghalaya.
