Pollution in Ho Chi Minh City 🇻🇳♻️
Today, I was teaching grade four students about our environment and how we can prevent and reduce the impact we have on our planet.
I was encouraged by their knowledge. Most of the students understand the importance of living a more eco-friendly way. The future looks brighter for Ho Chi Minh City.
Ho Chi Minh City has a big problem right now with pollution. This morning as I looked out over the city, all I could see was smog hugging the horizon.
There are so many vehicles on the roads that put out toxic fumes. From what I see, it's the older vehicles that seem to be the primary producer of the fumes. The only solution to this problem is a change to electric bikes and cars or ban cars or motorcycles that have harmful emission levels. This change would have an instant impact. However, that is not affordable for all or something that can quickly happen in a city of around 10m people.
It’s not only vehicles that cause the pollution. People burn trash regularly, and many people drop trash anywhere, including the rivers.
Pollution is the only thing that frustrates me in Vietnam. I believe the children are the future of this great country, and I hope in the not too distant future things improve.
Until then, I’ll enjoy the fresh air on an odd day and continue to wear my mask when driving my motorbike.
Keep It Real
