Some Common Traits of Successful Entrepreneurs

in #entrepreneurship8 years ago (edited)

Being an entrepreneur for 25 years now I know for sure one of the traits instilled in me as a child which can be developed as an adult is to read topical information about everything and anything that might help you in your quest to start up a business.  Essentially most successful entrepreneurs are life long learners.

One of the first books I read was a book about Success written way back in 1927 titled  The SUCCESS PROCESS by Brown Landone

I think this fellow was one of the very first guys if not the very first guy that had the success concept developed and written down and promoted it via a book.  This was pretty much the only way back then to send information of this nature out to the masses and make some money doing it.  I think most of the other gurus that sprung up including Napoleon Hill, Tony Robbins etc. basically morphed Landone's principles and wrote books of their own and made videos.

I would recommend reading The Success Process to any would be entrepreneur.

Another area as a must to learn is the internet.  In my opinion every entrepreneur who is on a tight budget needs to know how to build a website and search engine optimize it.  (SEO)   Knowing how to utilise the social networks available including this on right here is imperative to successfully creating an online presence.  Every entrepreneur should create an online presence even way before starting up a business.  I actually am in the process of doing this right now even though I am self employed and in a successful manufacturing business for 25 years now.   The reason is I'm very interested in doing some crowdfunding so hence an online presence is so important to doing a successful crowdfund campaign.  Essentially creating a following via a website/video blog and written blog here and elsewhere.

My online presence machine includes a website, www.tycoons.club a youtube channel called "The Tycoon Network"  and an email/tribe harvesting list using the autoresponder mailchimp.

Another important trait is not being shy or afraid to speak to anyone anywhere.  When the opportunity arises talk to people no matter where... even in an elevator.  Successful salesmen are talkers.  So are most successful entrepreneurs.   The more you talk and practice the breaking down of your shyness the more people you will connect with.  Another quick tip... always have a business card with your contact info handy on your person so whoever you talk to you can give your info to and invite them to your presence machine.  I've put a youtube video together as a video summary to this blog for the convenience to those who prefer video to learn.
