Creativity: The power of the entrepreneur.

The challenge for the able bodied to be gainfully employed grows rapidly and there is need for more jobs to be provided for these number of jobless ones. The ability of entrepreneurs to be creative and innovative distinguishes them from the regular business person and this goes a long way to determine their success or failure.

Why people take the entrepreneurial challenge.

Taking the risks of starting a business can be scary and thrilling at the same time. It is better to take a risk and fail than standing in the grand stand of life as a spectator doing nothing and expect to succeed. You succeed at nothing if you have nothing doing.

You might be scared, but if others succeed then you can succeed. Thomas Edison failed many times but succeeded at last just like many others.
Ask questions and reach out to others, do not sit at ease believing things will just change.

Some of the reasons people are willing to take the risks of starting a business are as follows;

1. Opportunity

Opportunities are obviously all around us, it takes serious commitment to spot them and share in the tremendous lure.

Some persons do not have the necessary skills for working in today’s complex organizations. However they may have the initiative and drive to work the long hours demanded in the entrepreneurial arena.

Others left the security of corporate life style by choice due to opportunity to run businesses of their own.

2. Profit

Profit is another important reason to become an entrepreneur. Some businesses have good indicators showing stability, good return on investments and does not require many technical details.

3. Independence

Many entrepreneurs simply do not enjoy working for someone else. Some have found more enjoyment and self-satisfaction in starting their own businesses.

4. Challenge

Entrepreneurs are excited and flourish on taking risks. Entrepreneurs take moderate and calculated risks, they are not just gambling. In general though, entrepreneurs seek achievements more than power.

What does it take to be an entrepreneur?

Would you succeed as an entrepreneur? You can learn the managerial and leadership skills needed to run a firm. However you may not have the personality to assume the risks, take the initiative, create a vision and rally others to follow your lead. Those traits are harder to learn or acquire.

Some attributes you should develop as an entrepreneur.

1. Self-directed

You should be thorough in your approach in handling your business. Even though you are in charge exude self-discipline. Remember you are responsible for your success or possible failure.

2. Self-nurturing

You must believe in your idea even when no one else does and be able to replenish your own enthusiasm. Have commitment and enthusiasm that would help you a great deal.

3. Action oriented

Great business ideas are not enough. The most important thing is a burning desire to realize, actualize and build your dream into a reality.

4. Highly energetic

It’s your business and you must be holistically balanced emotionally, mentally, physically and able to work smart, long and hard. That reminds me of Elon Musk he ventured into business and today he is a success story.

5. Tolerant of uncertainty

Successful entrepreneurs take only calculated risks if they can help it. Remember entrepreneurship is not for the squeamish or the person bent on security.

It is important to know that most entrepreneur don’t get the ideas for their products and services of innovation from some flash of inspiration, rather the source of innovation is more like a search party lurking in the dark with flashlights looking around and asking questions.

It is like engaging in an idea espionage. Move and build your ideas in little drops, avoid making mistakes it could cost you a lot and if you don’t have the internal drive you might give up.

Create long term visions, it is better to plan that way.
