In late 2008 all the math came together and they invented a way for humans to coordinate in a truly decentralized way, marking a shift from communication technology generally favoring controlled thought to now favoring our best potential and most positive social outcomes.
The internet is an amazing innovation. Not only does it let anyone in almost any place in the world to stay in touch with the rest of the world and yet it is still in its infancy.
It will be very interesting to see how communications technology will helps us stay in touch and blossom in the not so distant future.

I think blockchain is an improvement in its own right. The internet was still centralized without it. Like, YouTube is an improvement over television, but at the core there's still a central point of failure/censorship. And since bad people can use the technology to communicate too, I think they had the small edge before, but now it's shifted to us. :D
