Model Shows How Indian Disney Princesses Would Look Like, And Some Look Better Than Originals

For all Disney‘s greatness, it’s hardly got the most diverse portfolio of heroines.

Growing up, those of us who aren’t white or blonde had the choice of being either Jasmine or Esmeralda…and that was pretty much it.

But one model is showing how Disney princesses might look if they had a little Indian makeover. Model and MUA Hamel Patel is from North Carolina and has been reinterpreting everyone from Ariel to Belle in a classic Indian style.

‘Growing up I always wished there was a Disney Princess I could relate to, one that represented where I came from,’ she says on Instagram.

‘Introducing outfits/makeup looks inspired by the eight original Disney Princesses we all grew up watching, with a little desi twist!’

Each princess has her own traditional dress, bindi, and jewelry and some might say that Hamel actually looks better than the originals.
