Future of visual communication

Neill blomkamp and Jules Urbach talk about the future of visual communication.

Future technologies that will enable more efficient modes of visual communication are currently stuck under the moniker of "entertainment". The is a necessity because all the research requires money, which currently is only funded by production budgets and companies that turn what should be an art form into a business.

I'm hopeful decentralized technologies can find a way to incentivize communications research without the need for advertising. I consider all entertainment that makes money to be directly connected to some form of advertisement, whether it's a product, a lifestyle, or a perspective. Whether its a pepsi can in the hero's hand, or the height of a camera that doesn't match the height of an audience member, "entertainment" will always be prescriptive and will lack meaning due to a lack of user input and data relevant to what the user/audience needs.
