Today was the F1 GP of Austria. I always try to watch the race live but I'm not always able to. One of those days was today. It was nice weather outside so I was going to enjoy a day with my family at a swimming lake. I set up the tv-box to record the race. I had switched my phone off so I thought I was all set.

Yet my track-record is like Max Verstappen's lately. I keep on crashing.

When we were going home the race had just ended. We got in the car around 16:00 so the radio started the news instantly and began with telling who won the race and what happened. I didn't even have time to turn off the radio.

I had no luck with a few other races lately as well...

I like to avoid seeing trailers from movies I really want to see. Yet when you go to the cinema and you're on-time you cannot avoid them. What could you do? Bring noise-cancelling headphones and close your eyes?
Avoiding tv-series spoilers is a bit easier unless it's a really popular show like Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead. Those spoilers are literally unavoidable when you are not able to watch it when it's aired the first time. You have social media, forums, news sites, whatsapp/messaging, friends, co-workers, overhearing total strangers...

I believe that the only way to avoid them altogether is living the Hermit's life.

But why do people so badly want to give spoilers all the time? Ain't it more fun not knowing what is about to happen?

The red wedding from Game of Thrones wouldn't have the same impact knowing what was about to happen.
300 was a movie I watched without knowing anything about it. I was like a little kid in a candy store while watching it.
The Descent was so awesome not knowing what movie was all about.
I saw Taken in a sneak preview. After the first few minutes I was expecting a drama movie. I was wrong... it was awesome!

These are just examples of some things that was way better without any spoilers. I still try to do this, but it's getting harder and harder since the world is becoming more and more information driven.

What is your take on spoilers? Do you like them? Do you give them to other people? Is there a good way to avoid them without becoming a hermit?

Talking about spoilers.... I'm currently watching 13 reasons why with my girlfriend and we are now around episode 5. She just said to me : I looked up the ending because I wanted to know how it ends...
