Insomniac Film Festival #92: DOOM
DOOM is a video game adaptation and, like all video game adaptation movies, it is really not very good. Sorry.
This one stars Karl Urban, Dwayne Johnson and Rosemund Pike. The plot, for what it is, is about a group of Marines that go to Mars to hunt a genetically mutated something. There are zombies and monsters and military types creeping in dark hallways and dying in sort of gruesome ways sometimes while saying lines that could have come from Predator. Really.
What’s Good...
Karl Urban is good in pretty much everything he does (do yourself a favour and see Dredd).
That’s about it.
#What’s Not So Good...
Pretty much everything else, including Johnson and Pike.
And the dark scenes are really dark.
I've never seen it but anything the Rock is in is worth it.
Nope.
Bad is an understatement. Unfortunately, successful video game adaptations are very rare.
