Man in the High Castle

What if the Axis had won WWII? What would the United States look like today had that been the case? Based on the Philip K. Dick novel of the same name, The Emmy award-winning Man in the High Castle counts film titans Ridley Scott (Alien, Predator) and Frank Spotnitz (The X-Files) among the ranks of its production team. That's how you know it's good sh*t.

American Gods

American Gods is more of an experience than it is a show; bringing a psychadelic twist to ancient mythology as the Gods of old clash with our new Gods - media, technology, fame. Worth watching for the weirdness factor alone, but also for its rich story and supremely well-crafted characters.

Travelers

Travelers is a pseudo-dystopian time travel romp which can come off as cheesy at first, but becomes overwhelmingly addictive a few episodes in. A lighter watch for someone looking to cool down from all the epic Game of Thrones drama.

Black Mirror

Best described as "Orwellian what-if techno-horror", Black Mirror will reach into your chest and rip your heart out. Completely irreverent and scarily plausible, each episode is like a mini-movie exploring unique techno-social scenarios that are guaranteed to send chills down your spine.

Ozark

Another Netflix original; Ozark stands among their best productions. What initially appeared as a Breaking Bad with a comedy twist twist, quickly turns into a gripping, unpredictable,one-more-episode kind of watch. Starring Jason Batemen of Arrested Development and Horrible Bosses fame, he really steps up to the plate to deliver powerful performance.

Westworld

If you haven't already, Westworld is an amazing scifi-western that at times becomes a deeply introspective though experiment on the implications of creating artificial life. The show is based on the 1973 book by Michael Crichton who also famously wrote Jurassic Park (this dude was really into his alternate-reality theme park stories, eh?), this show is an apt substitute for those looking for that GoT-esque fantasy/adventure.

The People vs. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story

A ridiculously true-to-life portrayal of the drama and intrigue surrounding one of the biggest media events of the century - the OJ Simpson trial. Much of the dialogue uses actual transcript from hearings and affidavits, with even the real people behind the names agreeing on its accuracy.
