English Phrasal Verbs (231/365) - Weigh Against Somebody/Something
To weigh against somebody/something means to be disadvantageous to someone/something.
Example sentences:
- The fact that she is obviously pregnant weighs against her in the recruitment process.
- The sex tapes leaked to the yellow press certainly weigh against the party leader's chances of re-election.
Yes and quite common to say "weigh in about some topic". Means to give an opinion.
Quite a nice one, very useful too!
