I'm going to introduce funny and interesting English words in this post. I know that some people have a hard time learning English. I hope these fun words can make you realize that English learning is fun. :)

가장 많은 사람들이 키우고 있는 애완동물은 무엇일까? 대부분 개나 고양이일 거라고 생각하겠지만, 아니다. 그건 바로 ‘먼지 토끼’이다. 누구나 집에 한 마리쯤은 꼭 키우고 있다는 바로 그 애완동물. 못 믿겠다고? 이름도 처음 들어본다고? 의심하지 마시라. 지금 당신 집, 방 안에도 이 ‘먼지 토끼’가 있으니.

What is the most common pet that people have? You might think it's perhaps a dog or a cat or a bird, but you're wrong. That is - drum roll, please - Dust Bunny!! Every one has it, everywhere has it. Wait, you don't know what that is? You've never heard of it? Don't worry. Even if you've never heard of it, you still have it. You just don't realize it yet. But you have it. In your own house, in your own room.

Dust는 ‘먼지’라는 뜻이고, bunny는 ‘토끼’라는 뜻이다. 이 두 단어가 합해진 Dust bunny(혹은 dustbunny)는 우리말로 ‘먼지 덩어리’라는 뜻이다. 이건 그냥 청소 안 한 책상 위에 뿌옇게 앉은 그런 먼지가 아니다. 소파 뒤나 침대 밑 등 구석진 곳에서 진공청소기의 모진 유혹도 뿌리치고, 오랜 기간 자리하고 앉아 점점 몸체를 불려, 마침내 사람이 손으로 집어 올릴 수 있을 정도의 크기와 폭신함을 가지게 된 ‘먼/지/덩/어/리’다.

Dust bunny is "clumps of dust". It's not that thin layer of dust covering your uncleaned desk over the weekend. It's usually located in corners of a room or under the furniture where it stubbornly resists the temptation of vacuum cleaner. For a long time it makes itself big, soft, and spongy thing that you can pick up with your gloved fingers with grimace in your face. That's Dust bunny.

별로 키우고 싶지 않은, 하지만 키우기는 너무나 쉬운, 누구나 키우고 있는 그 애완동물, Dust bunny!! 장마가 끝나면 대청소와 함께 구석진 곳에 숨어 있던 반려묘(伴侶卯)에게도 빛을 보여주면 어떨까.

The pet that you don't want to have, but very easy to raise, and everyone owns: Dust bunny!!

dust bunny 사진을 그냥 올리려고 했는데, 아무리 자기 집 소파 밑이나 옷장 밑에서 다 볼 수 있다지만 그래도 좀 혐오스러울까 걱정이 됐다. 그래서 조금이나마 귀엽게(?) 만들어보고자 토끼 분장을 시켰다. 자, 여러분도 이번 주말에는 집에 있는 애완 먼지 토끼들을 말끔히 정리해보자.

I know that you can see it in your own room (under the bed), but here is the picture. I put it a cute bunny costume. After the vacation, we should all attack under the bed(or sofa) and get rid of all that dust bunnies. Because we all know very well that how prolific bunnies are. 😆

덧붙임) 저도 대문을 만들어봤어요. 다른 분들 멋진 대문을 보고 저도 하나 있었으면 했거든요. 별거 없어보이는데, 그래도 저거 만든다고 꽤 오래 낑낑댔어요. 다 만들고 나니 애정이 생기네요. ^^

책 독후감 같은 경우는 그냥 책 표지를 메인 그림으로 쓰면 되겠지만, 그렇지 않은 경우는 대문 그림을 넣으려고요. 읽어주셔서 고맙습니다. :)
