Peru, Machu Picchu and Lake Titika

in #english7 years ago

Well to be honest Peru was kind of exhausting. Maybe it was 'cause of the hight altitude or the weather. We just travelled in Cusco and Puno. Cusco is very touristy but prices are ok. It was mostly of the day cold but when the sun was shining it was warm.
There is a lot of history in and around Cusco which is very interesting. We tasted alpaca meat and typical sauces of Cusco. There are a lot of nice gifts to buy. The Cusqueña is a very tasty refreshment. We drove on a small and steep route to Hydroletica. We enjoyed a stunning view on the amazing mountains and waterfalls while we drove up. The walk to Aqua Caliente took us bit more than two hours along the railway. Aqua Caliente is the small village before Machu Picchu. The historical ruins of Machu Picchu are interesting and fascinating. But to be honest, the nature around was much more impressive.
It took us appro. 7 hours from Cusco to Puno by bus.
The city has a main street which is nice with restaurants and shops.
Beside of the lake there is not much to do in Puno.
Lake Titicaca is huge, there is a lot to see.
We went on a tour and visited the habitants of the floating isle. They make their own home with a special plant which grows in the lake, they use this plant for almost everything like food, building boats and houses. It was so peacefull there. I really recommend Lake Titicaca/ Titikaka.
