Language is dynamic. This means that as time passes, some words, phrases or expressions are regarded as out of use and are therefore dropped.
Nobody will query you for using old fashioned words, but it will only mean you are not abreast with time.
So let's spice our English up. Will we?
Let's take a look at some old fashioned words and expressions.

1. Cutlass
Cutlass is an outdated word. It is defined as a short sword that was used by sailors as a weapon.
Use machete instead.
Machete is a large knife with a broad blade used for cutting.
Note : machete is pronounced as /masheti/

2. Master (as teacher's title)
English master, anatomy master, economics mistress, etc are outdated.
Say English teacher, anatomy teacher, economics teacher, etc.

3. Queen's English
John speaks the Queen's English. - outdated.
Use flawless english, impeccable english, etc
John speaks impeccable english. ✅

4. Bad blood
There is bad blood between the two cheer leaders. - old fashioned.
There is a feeling of dislike between the two cheerleaders. ✅

5. Well bred.
My niece is well bred, she would not say that. - outdated.
My niece is well-brought-up, she would not say that.✅

That should be enough for today.
Till next time....

Thanks for your attention.
