How to fight against homophobia? Many people often ask me what is the point of winning concrete causes when the problems we face are much larger. Homophobia is a good example of this. People win many of these campaigns and get to end with concrete injustices but how to really end up with the underlying problem. How to end homophobia?

The big problems are not big because they are large, but they are big problems because they are complex. The big problems are made up of thousands, hundreds of thousands and even millions of small ramifications that make great solutions almost never work. That is why, although it is necessary, an international treaty will not end with homophobia. Therefore, no matter how useful it may be, an equal marriage law will not end on its own with the greater problem of homophobia. Great solutions, as history has shown us, have rarely succeeded in ending the great problems.

How to end then with a big problem like homophobia? In a way that is contrary to what most people believe. Not with big solutions without small solutions. With thousands, hundreds of thousands, millions of small solutions that end with each of those thousands, hundreds of small ramifications of the big problems. Major problems must be dried up at the root.

And that's where you come in. There is no organization capable of giving millions of small solutions. But people can, you can. You can denounce, fight and end with concrete injustices. You can stop a conversation and say that comment is homophobic. You can go talk to those gay friends who have decided to shut up when they have been denied registration and fight for them, you can face the insulting homophobe, you are the only person who can end the suffering of a kid who drowns The mere fact that he likes people of the same sex.
