RE: Pondering Appropriate Titles for Transgender Persons

in #english8 years ago

I have to consider the real possibility that what I perceived to be a problem may not be a problem at all - in which case there is no need for a "solution".

A scenario where a transgender enters a relationship with somebody, allowing them to believe that one is a non-transgender enters into an ethical conflict - and while I lean towards the partner's 'right to know', such is a delicate balance - to wait until one determines that what one has is strong enough to weather the revelation, or to be forthright about one's gender identity with a person - at the earliest time feasible.

Or perhaps a third path. I do not know.

One thing that perplexes me however is that some people are more comfortable subtracting gender identity than embrace the nuances. I simply do not understand and can only speculate at the roots of the cause being those of doubt and perhaps fear. Why else might one wish to celebrate diversity upon any level without acknowledging this same diversity upon all levels?

This misgiving I do not aim at you @amberyooper. I appreciate your feedback. :c) I am merely thinking aloud.
